Victory for the True Christian

Reading: Micah 2 and Psalm 6

By Pastor Alex

“My eye wastes away because of grief;

It grows weak because of all my foes.

Depart from me, all you workers of evil,

For the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.

The LORD has heard my plea;

The LORD accepts my prayer.

All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;

They shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.”

- Psalm 6:7-10

“Woe to those who devise wickedness

And work evil on their beds!

When the morning dawns, they perform it,

Because it is in the power of their hand.

They covet fields and seize them,

And houses, and take them away;

They oppress a man and his house,

A man and his inheritance.”

- Micah 2:1-2

You and I, as believers, are called to be warriors in armor, and we are engaged in warfare. We see some vile enemies in the scripture readings for today. While they certainly have a human application, we know by revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ that, “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). Fellow human beings are not our true enemies; rather, demonic forces are.

From this revelation and vantage point, I want us to read the scriptures today. Though we are engaged in a real battle, and our adversaries use many schemes and devices against us, there is an undeniable victory for the sincere believer. This victory is part of the inheritance that is yours and mine in Christ Jesus, and it is given to us from the Lord. “‘No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their vindication is from Me,’ declares the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17). This is not a reality for the casual or nominal Christian, but for the one who lives for Christ, whose life is truly founded on a loving relationship with God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

If the Holy Spirit bears witness to your spirit that you are a child of God, then no matter what battle is coming your way today, tomorrow, or the next day, you can have peace and even joy. You can be assured of your ultimate triumph through the blood of Jesus and the word of your testimony. You can also be assured of the ultimate and utter destruction of your enemies! Listen to the following promise from Micah chapter 2, verse 3: “Therefore, thus says the LORD: behold, against this family I am devising disaster, from which you cannot remove your necks, and you shall not walk haughtily, for it will be a time of disaster.” The demonic opposition may appear threatening, but in the presence of the LORD, we find their power is completely undone. We are reminded of the truth that their ruin will be absolute; in fact, they are already judged. Are you engaged in a battle, Christian? Run to prayer, your direct line to God; call for reinforcement. Ask for His directions, as He can see much more than you or I can. If He puts anything in your mind to set right, do it. Then, watch the victory become reality.
