Why? Because nothing can separate you from the love of God. Vs. 1 states “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Why? “Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Many congregants tend to look at one another and state “that person is not acting the right way” or “that person is not a Christian…I can tell”. Oh really…you can? How?
I would immediately point and lead us to vs. 5 “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” What does the Holy Spirit desire from each one of us? What are God’s desires for our lives? Vs. 8 states “Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God!” What a statement!!!
Vs. 12 gives a stark and stern warning. “We have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Wow…Living by the Spirit puts to death the misdeeds of the body. Praise the Lord. For God gives us grace and mercy freely and we ought to give that freely to one another as we live by the Spirit.
I am amazed how our fleshly actions bring a lock and key to our soul. It is as if our lack of living by the Spirit puts us in a jail cell that we cannot get out of until we repent and turn to Jesus. Then, and only then, does the Holy Spirit come and let us out to be free. This does not mean that we will have a life of luxury and without suffering as vs 18-28 state. What we will be are more than conquerors through it all and into eternity. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Vs 31 states.
Remember vs. 37 as you walk through this day. “In all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Pray for one another today, be merciful to one another today, give more grace then was given to you today knowing that we are more than conquerors and we want to bring others locked in their cages to the grace and mercy of the Lord so they too may be more then conquerors. It’s not about us but one another.
Lord bless you as you walk in the fullness of His Mercy today.
