Bible Reading: John Chapter 2
By: Sarah Mack
The wedding at Cana: Notice Mary’s faith in Jesus, how she firmly believes He can and will do something to fix the problem: No more wine at the wedding. There’s no doubting or hesitancy when she takes action, telling the servants there will be further command from Jesus, before she receives a “yes” from Jesus. This faith is something we could all park in, stop at, and learn from. Jesus has a miraculous, powerful, fulfilling solution for every one of life’s problems.
Jesus doesn’t always jump up immediately say yes and go do. He has this dialogue with Mary before turning water to wine, and another dialogue with a different woman where He actually insults her before blessing her. Within these conversations, faith in Jesus and persistence is displayed. Matthew 15:26-28 “And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.” Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.” We see that Faith and persistence are powerful when directed toward the One who holds the world.
So many of us get stuck and don’t see the miracles of God and the power He can display. This could be because we give up too soon and settle for less. It could be because we aren’t putting our trust in Him fully and are self-reliant or reliant on others more than God. It could be another reason, but ask Him... He knows.
Jesus’ eyes are toward you and his ear hears your cry. Take time to sit and ask the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Place anything before Jesus that you need to let go of, and let’s hold onto Him for a miracle. Let’s take those steps of Faith and watch what God does next. It could be the gateway for many more miracles to follow.
