Hebrews 3:14 “For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.”
In chapter 3 the author states that Jesus was faithful and Moses also remained faithful to the end ,spiritual lessons and all . Chapter 3 warns that we must not fall into the deceitfulness of sin through unbelief leading to turning away from the Lord. The Israelites fell away during their 40 year journey to the Promise Land even though they had experienced several miracles and blessings. Why? I think they failed to trust in God to continue to provide protection and provisions for them. They feared instead of exercising faith. They fell into unbelief and and lost the confidence they once had in the Lord. In the case of Christians we are in-dwelt with God the Holy Spirit and yet we can still fall away. So just like the Israelites we can fail the test of our faith. Why? If I continue to put my confidence and trust in Christ I will not fear the circumstances of life. To put it another way, I can either walk in my flesh ( my mind, will and emotions) or continually seek the mind of God Through prayer and the word to walk in freedom and power. Therefore I must keep my confidence in the Lord and not fall into fear, unbelief and sin. My way is sin. God’s way is blessings.
