Reading: Malachi 2, Psalm 37
By Pastor Sherry
No one is Perfect! I’ll say it again no one is Perfect. Everyone is Flawed! I’ll say it again everyone is Flawed. This is the reason we all need someone that is not Flawed and is also Perfect. His name is Jesus! Do you know Him? I mean do you really Know Him??
Friend, I do not know what you are struggling or suffering with. I do want to be absolutely frank with you. This is very serious stuff. Psalm 138, shows us the miraculous way to Salvation. That little prayer you prayed when you were young or when you were at a special church service when the Pastor asked you to pray a prayer of Savation doesn’t mean anything unless you are walking in obedience with Him know. If you think you are walking with Him but you are walking in sin, then wake up! You are not walking with Him. The Lord made it very clear what sins keep us out of heaven and we will be without excuse. Be concerned!
King David was immersed in emotions from guilt of past sins and deep deep conviction. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says, “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to Salvation and leaves no regret, but Worldly sorrow brings death.”
There is a huge difference between Godly sorrow and worldly sorrow. We have been all caught up in worldly sorrow, “ oh I’m sorry.” But there is no change. You are sorry you got caught, with no change the behavior continues over and over. The Lord says, “this brings death.” On the other hand Godly sorrow brings a deep conviction for wrong behavior past or present. It causes deep emotions of distress over what has been done. The Lord has a way , like an arrow that wounds the soul of a person to cause conviction. This is never to be taken lightly. Conviction for sin must sink to the core of our innermost Spirit. We feel the weight of our sin resting on us. As Spurgeon once said, “Conviction of sin is like a piercing and a pressing thing sharp and sore, smarting and crushing.” At this point, a person gets no rest, this weakens are minds and bodies. This is the time to repent (turn 180 degrees) from our sin and call on Jesus. Oil and salve can’t help this soul issue only the blood of Jesus, covering us can save us.
A person can walk around for years numb, deaf and blind to their sin until their conscience is awakened. Once this happens Godly sorrow sets in, at this point a person is in a wonderful place. It doesn’t feel good but it is in this state one can turn to the Lord and learn of His sacrifice.
Vs 9 tells us that God sees the longing in our heart, nothing is hidden from Him. He understands the pain but we are the one to make confession to Him. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” We find our forgiveness, our peace and solice in our Lord and turn from our wicked ways and walk life in obedience to Him who saved us.
This is the road to Salvation, there is no other. I ask you today, take off your bandages and grave clothes and let His blood heal you. It’s the only way.
